The Town of Columbia is governed by an Alderman/Manager style government.  The Aldermen are elected for a four year term on a staggard election process.  The mayor, also an elected position, serves for 2 years. 

     The Town Manager is hired by the Board of Aldermen and serves at their discretion.  He is responsible for guiding and implementing Board of Aldermen policies and providing overall management of municipal operations.
